Five on Friday

Lordy, lordy- there's a lot I'm loving this week. I don't know how I'm going to keep it to five, but I'm sure going to try!

ONE- My baby sister is graduating high school on Saturday

It's hard for me to believe that she is already old enough to be graduating from high school and getting ready to go off to college. I'm slightly jealous of her and the adventure she is about to embark on. I sometimes feel like I'm annoying her by telling her how fast college goes by.
TWO- Celebrating our Mommas

We went to the same college and were in the same sorority
I'm so so excited for Mother's Day this year. We are so lucky that we get to celebrate the day with both of our moms at the same place. Our first anniversary happens to fall on Mother's Day this year so the celebration of our first year of marriage is going to be that much sweeter. We were both blessed with two incredibly strong mommas who could easily take over the world if they wanted to.

THREE- Celebrating one freaking year of marriage!

I've said this a million times but there is just no way it's been a year already. Also, who made the rule that you can only wear your wedding dress once?? I don't like them. At all. One thing I learned from our wedding- I'm extremely proud of my heritage (I knew that part before) and I will try and find ways to show off my family tartan. ie- Pat's tie was his family's tartan and my bouquet was wrapped in the family tartan from my mom's side.

FOUR- Going to eat here to celebrate one whole year of marriage

This is where our rehearsal dinner was and I am salivating just thinking about the food already. I love all things French (duuuh, right?!) and French food is just one of God's bajillion gifts to man kind. Go get you some. Right now.

FIVE- I get to eat the most amazing cake ever this weekend

This is where I get to brag about one of our BFFs. We are so blessed with some of the most amazingly talented friends and one of those friends just so happens to be an amazing baker. She went to the Culinary Institute of America and currently works for the Food Network. So, guess who made our wedding cake?? She so graciously flew home from NYC and made our cake for us. Y'all, I do NOT like wedding cake. Boring pound cake and overly sugary icing?? No thank you! Well, little Miss Sarah totally changed my view on that. You see that cake up there? Say hello to the World's Best Wedding Cake. Yes, it's official. I have the documents to prove it. That little cake was a Yellow cake with a key lime curd and graham cracker strudel with a butter cream icing. AKA Key Lime Pie in cake form. It was so good that we still get e-mails asking who made our cake. I'm just excited to get more than one bite this time. Pat managed to hijack my piece when I turned around to give Sarah mad props for her skills. It's a good thing I love that boy!

So, here is where I ask all wifeys if y'all saved your cake topper and if it was any good? I have high hopes for ours. I will be devastated if they are crushed.

I hope each and every one of you has an amazing weekend. To any Mommas out there reading this, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Five on Friday

FRIIIIIIIIDAY!!!! <--- I screamed that this morning. On the inside, but I still screamed it.

ONE- LOS BRAVOS

July 2013
We are going to our first Braves game of the season tonight and I.Cannot.Wait!! I'm so excited to sit and watch some baseball and have some good ole ballpark food.

TWO- UNDERGRAD #CHECK

After putting his degree on hold to follow his dream of playing professional soccer, retiring and then going back to school Pat finished up his undergrad degree on Wednesday. I am so so proud of that smarty pants of a husband of mine. He's graduating with a 3.95 and in the top 5% of his class. Next on the list is to find a job. Please say a prayer for him as he enters into the not so fun time of job hunting in this terrible economy. I can tell he's very stressed about it and feels like he needs to find something like yesterday. Please pray for patience and for the perfect opportunity to come along.

THREE- CELEBRATIONS

I love to celebrate life's big and small moments. We get to celebrate a pretty big moment in my husbands life this weekend. For us celebrations usually mean some pretty good meals. Let's just say we might be making two laps around Stone Mountain on Saturday in order to prepare ourselves for this meal.

FOUR- COSTCO FINDS

I have a deep love for Costco. I could go on and on about why I love it so much, but I'm just going to share this newest find with y'all. I love sorbet probably more than ice cream so when I found these babies I did a little happy dance in the middle of the frozen foods section.

FIVE- NEW RUNNING SHOES

After saying I needed new running shoes for a year and a half I finally went out got myself some new shoes. I can't wait to hit the streets this weekend! If you're ever in ATL and you're a runner go to Big Peach Running Co. They will fit you for your perfect pair of running shoes. They don't try to sell you the most expensive pair, they truly only try to sell you the shoe that is the best fit for you and your running style. I can never ever say enough good things about the place. I love going into that store and always leave there more excited about running.

Five on Friday

Hallelujah , it's finally Friday! It's been a slow week around these parts. SO excited it's the weekend.

Let's break down my Five on Friday :)

ONE- NEW CAMERA

I know I posted about this earlier but Y'ALL I am just so so excited! I have been waiting for this for years and the fact that I finally have one to play with and document things means the world to me.

TWO- BOSTON MARATHON

I posted on Monday that my cousin was running the marathon. I am so so proud to say that she not only finished the race, she killed it! I teared up when I watched her cross the finish line. This has been a dream of hers for years. After the events of last year she was more determined to run the race then ever. Well, she did it and qualified for next year!

THREE- RELAXING NIGHTS AT HOME

Pat coaches two nights a week so those are usually my nights to catch up on my girly shows. This week all the stars aligned and two of my ladies tolerated each other and joined me on the couch. Christmas miracle in April!

FOUR- FROZEN

I'm seriously late to the party on this one, but I finally sat down and watched Frozen. I'm obsessed and now want to watch every Disney princess movie from my childhood. Say a prayer for Pat. He's going to need it when I find all of my Disney DVDs.

FIVE- APRIL 25TH

Nothing to add to that one.

I hope each and every one of you has had a fabulous week. Can't wait to read about your amazing weekends next week :)

Five on Friday

Darci, April, Christina, and Natasha
It's Friday!!! I'm not going to lie, I am sad to see this week end. It's Spring Break here in Atlanta and that means traffic has been heavenly this week!!

ONE- NATIONAL PET DAY

As if Pat and I need an actual day to celebrate our three ladies ... If you can't tell we love our babies large and in charge! Love all three of them dearly and love how different all of their personalities are.

TWO- NEW HOME DECOR

I am all about having unique, homemade pieces in our home. Ruth is my favorite book in the Bible and I always learn something new each time I read it. Pat and I both love to travel and I have wanted this particular verse printed for our home for awhile. I knew I wanted it over a map just for symbolism purposes. Well, Annette from The Rustic Orange came to my rescue. I sent her a custom order request at about 9AM this morning and she had it done and ready to be shipped by 10AM. Talk about wonderful customer service!! I can't recommend her enough. Y'all, check out her shop and get to talking to her. She's wonderful!

THREE- TRYING NEW THINGS

Usually for me that means cooking a new recipe. We tried out a new one last night, and Pat says it needs to be put into our rotation. I was a bad blogger and didn't take any pictures, but I loved spending time in our kitchen last night making something from scratch. It's so therapeutic for me!

FOUR- KEEPING WITH THE OLD

While I love trying new things, I also having our favorites every week. Taco night is pretty normal for us. We make our own taco seasoning and it's super fast! This week we decided to throw in some homemade margaritas (in mason jars of course!) and enjoy Monday night catching up on our DVR. Perfection!

FIVE- HELPING FAMILY

While I would rather be going to Augusta for The Masters this weekend, I am so happy that we can go and help Pat's mom move to a better apartment. She lives there during the week for her job and needed a better and safer place to live. Who knows, maybe I'll get to see Rory while we're there ;)

I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! What do you have planned?

Five on Friday: Three Day Weekend

Darci, April, Christina, Natasha
It's finally Friday, and I am celebrating a little more this week because I took a PTO day this Friday. Even though my PTO day will be spent at the DMV, Social Security office and the doctor, it's still better than work all day.

Let's get to my Five on Friday!

ONE- WALKS WITH OUR NEW BABY

We've been going on walks every night when I get home from work and I love having a buddy on my walks/jogs. I get some cardio in and she gets a little exercise in that helps her sleep through the night. Okay so I guess the walks are really a win-win for me ;)

TWO- BACK PORCH RELAXIN'

Chloe and I have been hanging out on the back porch while our cats eat their dinner and Pat is still at work. I am a crazy animal parent who knows that the cats really appreciate the fact that I give them peace and quiet while they eat. It's fun to watch Chloe look around and discover the birds flying around. She's the cutest little huntress there ever was!

THREE- COLORFUL DINNERS

Oven baked fajitas is one of our favorite meals. I love making the spice mix for this dish at home instead of getting a store bought mix at the store. Personally I think it tastes better and I love knowing that we are cutting down on our sodium intake. Thank goodness we have left overs so we can enjoy more fajitas tomorrow!

FOUR- NEW KITCHEN TOWEL

I don't even have a good explanation for this one. I just love it!

FIVE- STITCHFIX

Awkward me, great photo bomb by Chloe

I received my first Stitchfix this week, and I loved it. I loved trying on some things I would never pick up at the store on my own. I stuck to my rule and only kept one thing. I am already anxiously awaiting my next fix!

What are some things that made your week? Any big plans for the weekend?

I hope you all have had amazing weeks and have even better weekends!

Five on Friday

DarciApril, Christina, Natasha

ONE- RAIN

I am sucker for a good rain storm. I love the thunder that rumbles, and I love the rain that washes away the pollen. The thunder reminds me of being a child and an adult always telling me it's the angels bowling in heaven. There is something so peaceful about rain, and I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to fall asleep to rain tonight. Perfect Friday night! Side note: When did that become my perfect Friday night, and when did I get old?

TWO- PROTECTION AND PEACE

Pat had a scary run in yesterday that left us freaked out/paranoid about our home for the rest of the day. I am so thankful we serve a God who gives us peace and comfort in a time of stress. I love that I know I can always pray to the Lord and he will calm my fears and anxiety. He not only calmed our fears but gave us the protection that we felt we so desperately needed. He always will be the one constant in our lives and will be there at all times. How wonderful is that?!

THREE- FUR BABIES
Doing her best Puss in Boots impersonation
I am not a cat person by any means, but I cannot deny how much joy our fur babies bring me. I love their little personalities and crazy antics that they each have. Fluff (pictured above) is the dramatic one. She's always starving (She does always have dry food out. She's not literally starving) and will flop down in the most dramatic ways possible to get your attention. Above was my view this morning as I was getting ready. Drama. Queen.

FOUR- NO PLANS

I love that our weekend consists of exactly zero plans. No planned dinners or anything! I'm looking forward to grilling out and just hanging out on our back porch. Annnnnnnnd maybe finishing the 4th book in the Game of Thrones series so I can start watching the next season right when it starts on April 6th.

FIVE- NEW JOB

This week was my first full week in my new position at work. I am loving it so far. I have more responsibilities and I get to move around more. My old job kept me tied to a desk, and I couldn't get up and walk around. I may be a little more tired this week, but it's a good kind of tired.

Happy Friday! I hope you all have an amazingly relaxing weekend.

Five on Friday

I am linking up with the lovely ladies who bring us 5 on Friday every week :)
Darci, April, Christina, Natasha

ONE- SPRING IS HERE!!!!!!!!!

Spring time is easily my favorite time of year. The hydrangeas and magnolias are blooming. It's finally crawfish season. We get to grill out almost every night. The days are longer and I can run outside without freezing. It's time for the farmers market to be overflowing with fresh produce. It's time to start going to Braves games. Time to go on hikes and not freeze once you get to the top of the mountain. I think y'all get the picture... I LOVE SPRING!!!

TWO- Saturday lunch dates

I'm super excited that Pat and I will be breaking our normal routine and will be going on a Saturday lunch date. Stay tuned for a post on our exciting adventure next week. We'll be visiting something that looks like a bunch of these all next to each other-

Link
THREE- Big meals to celebrate the little things. Like Friday eve!!

FOUR- Fresh Pico de Gallo made by my hubs.

Pat and I both love to cook, but he always manages to surprise me with the new things that he can do. The fresh pico de gallo he made was the perfect addition to our homemade fajitas!

FIVE- Receiving this in the mail-

I already have a post planned for our wedding album. Then I will be able to officially cross it off my 101 in 1001 list!

I hope you all have amazing weekends to relax and do all that fun stuff you just can't seem to find the energy for during the week! TGIF!!

Five on Friday

TGIF, y'all!!!!! This week has seemed to drag by for some reason, and I really can't believe that it is finally Friday. I have never looked forward to sleeping in as much as I am right now.

I am linking up with the fabulous ladies who started 5 on Friday today!

DarciAprilChristinaNatasha
One- ST. PADDY'S DAY WEEKEND

We are going to our favorite Irish Pub, Fado, for their annual outdoor celebration. St. Paddy's Day is always one of our favorites because both Pat and I are of Irish decent. Fun Fact- St. Paddy's Day is the first time Pat ever told me he loved me. We were standing in the middle of La Grand Place in Bruxelles, Belgium and it could not have been anymore perfect!

St. Paddy's Day 2011- Bruxelles, Belgium
Two- GINGERS REUNITE!

I get to see one of my sorority sisters and dear friends from college tomorrow, and I cannot wait! Fun Fact- Our moms were Phi Mus together in college. It was fun reliving some of their memories with them while we were active Phi Mus during our college years. Also, we were all in the same chapter :)

That's us in the middle

Three- TRIVIA TUESDAYS

I don't talk about one of our weekly traditions much on here, but I figured I could give a shout out to our trivia team today. We were hurting badly after cleaning up the first half. We went from 2nd to last to 2nd after the final question. Woo hoo! Winning gift cards to our favorite wing place always makes us happy :)

Four- WEEKLY BREAKFAST

I'm super excited about our weekly breakfast this week. I think we'll basically be having a massive sleepover at our house this Saturday so that means I'll be making one of my all time favorite breakfast foods, Bubble Bread!

Five- GRACE

I am so appreciative of the grace that my new boss has given me this week as I am learning the tricks to the trade that she has perfected over the past few years. She's about 21 weeks pregnant so I'll be holding down the fort while she is out on maternity leave. Some of the stuff is tedious and can take time, but I am so thankful that she is willing to take the time and show me how to do it correctly step-by-step.

I hope all of you are having a great Friday! Have a wonderful weekend and ERIN GO BRAGH! ;)

Five on Friday

Obsessed would be an understatement
1. Job- I finally really got to start my new position at work. Even though I am still working my old job, it was nice to get up and learn some new things. One of my favorite things about this new position is how much I get to move around the office. Sitting in one space all the time kills me.

2. New outdoor furniture- Y'all, I can't even describe how excited I am about this. We found a table at Ikea that we will be going to get this weekend and some chairs we found at Home Depot. I am so excited to be able to use our back deck more and to enjoy all of this wonderful weather coming our way.

3. Warmer weather- Speaking of the weather ... I am loving weekends recently. Every weekend the weather has been making up for the crappy stuff Mother Nature has been giving us during the week. It's supposed to be in the upper 60s / Lower 70s this weekend and I cannot wait.

4. Laptop- After going a year without a functioning laptop I will finally get my own this weekend!! Hooray!! Thank you, tax return!

5. New Planner- I am one of those people who has to write things down in order to remember them. I was always super excited as a kid whenever it was time for me to get a new planner. Well, some things never change. I am convinced that an Erin Condren package is one of the many forms of happiness. I spent over an hour last night getting my new planner filled in, and I may be carrying it with me everywhere today. Like everywhere I walk... I'm a nerd and proud of it.
